Organisation des Championnats départementaux

Les 1er et 02 juillet 2023, les six (06) Ligues Régionales ont organisé conformément au calendrier des compétitions réactualisé et validé lors de la réunion du Comité Directeur Fédéral tenue le dimanche 25 juin 2023, les Championnats Départementaux.

Les compétitions se sont déroulées dans les 12 départements sous l’égide des différentes Ligues Régionales. Ainsi, les athlètes U16, U18, U20 et seniors des deux sexes se sont sainement affrontés à Banikoara, Parakou, Tanguiéta, Djougou, Savalou, Abomey, Grand-Popo, Djakotomey, Pobè, Porto-Novo, Cotonou, Toffo respectivement pour les comptes des départements de l’Alibori, du Borgou, de l’Atacora, de la Donga, des Collines, du Zou, du Mono, du Couffo, du Plateau, de l’Ouémé, du Littoral et de l’Atlantique.

Pour la première fois les Championnats Régionaux seront ouverts aux athlètes ayant passé le cap des Championnats Régionaux et invités par leurs Ligues Régionales respectives.  La Fédération, en instituant les Championnats Départementaux s’inscrit dans la dynamique de mise en oeuvre de son plan stratégique de Développement 2022-2032 qui recommande que plusieurs niveaux de déconcentration notamment les départements et les districts soient intégrés au calendrier des compétitions. Ce faisant, les athlètes bénéficieront de plus d’opportunités de compétitions avant les Championnats Nationaux et les Ligues Régionales pourront qualifier les athlètes les plus performants des différentes catégories d’âge et d’épreuve aux Championnats Régionaux. 

Les Championnats Départementaux ont aussi servi de cadre à l’organisation des Challenges Epreuves Combinées qualificatifs directement aux Championnats Nationaux pour les heptathlètes et décathlètes. En effet, le Comité Directeur Fédéral a enclenché depuis quelques années une politique de développement des épreuves combinées afin de préparer la relève de Odile AHANWANOU, hetptathlète béninoise de rang mondial qui a montré par son talent que la potentialité existe au Bénin pour cette épreuve.
